Located in the Caniçada Valley, Gerês House is positioned on a steep slope with views of a small stream and a surrounding landscape.
The house is designed to blend organically with the land, taking advantage of the slope, stream, and views. Accessed from the upper level, it offers a full view of the site, while large windows inside frame views of the stream and small lake below.
The building features two main elements: a wooden volume resting on a concrete base, extending over the land and water. Inside, the use of wood and concrete continues, creating spacious, multipurpose areas. A large central living room, with expansive windows, opens to an outdoor terrace, connecting the social space with nature. The kitchen and services are on the same level, while the more private areas are on a mezzanine, maintaining a visual connection with the main floor.
